Daily Dose of Us

Well, it wasn’t another year lease. It was a FRICKIN’ eviction notice! How in the world can this be happening?? I just bought the house next door, everything just burned, I AM falling appart in every sense of the word. That was the most horrible paper work I have ever received. Thank God for great friends and family otherwise I wouldn’t have made it.

It’s crazy how to think that you are friends with someone and someone you care about would do this to me!!! BUT there were many conversations about how he just wanted to see the bar open again and how his daughter would never get the chance to run it cuz she always ran it into the ground. GUESS what happened next?!?! I get a call two days later from the daughter of the guy leasing me the bar to say that she is the one taking it over. Heart shattered again…..not only were they taking my dream away BUT the one thing that got repeated and I was told would never happen is happening.

Things got ugly as things tend to do. They gave me the eviction notice in the beginning of April and wanted me out by the end of the month. I had to get the lawyer involved even tho his paper work all came from a lawyer; what they were requesting was illegal. That made my day. Everything in your paper work is illegal…….kudos to your lawyer. A little justification.

Well, now, what do you do with your life??? Do you look for a new place to open? Do you just go back to work for someone else? How does this even work? Do you just take time and try to figure it all out? Well, I can’t just sit around and work for someone else. So it was decided with the help of some friends that we need another place to be. Especially since we had an amazing following with our amazing food. So instead of just taking the punch to the gut, we moved on and found an even better space. Unfortunately, that space needed some work but instead of leasing and doing anything with rent; we decided that we needed to purchase. So purchase we did. We worked fast and diligently.

We closed on the new place on April 30…….we took advantage of the help that was offered and we were open on May 17th, 2023. While the new building isn’t huge, it’s bigger than the last place and we pack the people in just as tightly. It’s amazing to watch things grow and do different things with it.

It’s been great raising the kids in a business. D has been working with us for quite sometime and the plan for T to begin working was this summer. We have been cruising along in life….busy with the bar, D is a senior this 25-26 school year, T started the 6th grade and life was amazing again……UNTIL it wasn’t!!!
